OUR HISTORY
Our history is built from the ground up, with over 90 years of remarkable results.
1936
Ace is founded by Ernst and Herman Schwegler.
1973
Ace is acquired by Donald and Gary Jackson, co-owners of Edward E. Gillen Company, a prominent marine construction and deep foundation company responsible for many of the foundation piles downtown Milwaukee is built on. The acquisition bolsters Gillen’s marine construction and ship repair markets while allowing them to diversify into structural fabrications for bridges, buildings, and industrial manufacturing.
1975
To meet the growing demands of our customers, Ace expands from a 14,070 square foot facility to over 22,000 square feet while adding an additional 10-ton overhead crane. A short two years later we invest in an automated beam punching line, demonstrating our commitment to the latest in fabrication technology.
1995
Ace becomes an independent entity under the sole ownership of Donald Jackson and leadership of standing president Dave Mathews. The business continues to grow, justifying a 3,700 square foot office addition.
2014
Scott Jackson steps into the role of second-generation owner, while existing President Jim Dorsey continues to lead day to day operations. During Jim’s tenure customers continued to choose Ace as their preferred fabricator due to our partnering approach and consistent project execution.
2019
We complete the American Family Insurance Amphitheater Roof Raise project, an eventual winner of the 2023 AISC Merit Award $15 million to $75 million category.
2024
Connor Jackson and Zach Raisbeck are introduced as Vice Presidents, while Scott Jackson remains as owner and assumes the President role.
